Kynren Car Parks and Shuttle

NEW SINCE 2023: WE  LAUNCHED A SEPARATE CAR PARKING & SHUTTLE BOOKING FACILITY

To make your planning for Kynren easier, we have chosen to decouple the car parking/shuttle booking from the show ticket process.

We have introduced  a separate booking engine for car parking and shuttle, which you are able to use online and in your own time, when your plans are firming up.

*******

We look forward to welcoming you to Bishop Auckland, where nearly 2,000 car park spaces are available on the nights of Kynren performances.

If you choose to arrive to Kynren by car, you’ll need to book your preferred car park when you book your Kynren tickets. To help you decide, we’ve included some useful information about our 3 car parking options: Car Park C, Car Park H and Blue Badge Car Park A.

For those who prefer to take the weight off their feet, you can Park and Ride the shuttle bus to Kynren from Car Parks C and H or Ride the shuttle bus from Bishop Auckland bus station. A shuttle ticket is valid both ways, to and from Kynren.

ACCESS TO OUR SITE

You have several options to reach the Welcome Plaza (Ticket Check) on the 11Arches site:

WALK - from the town

The 11Arches site pedestrian entrance is 1km (.6 mile) from Bishop Auckland bus station; then you will walk on a zig zag path with a gently sloping gradient on 450m (.28 mile) to reach our Welcome Plaza, but bear in mind the return walk back is up hill!

RIDE ONLY -  Please note for 2024 all shuttles previously booked from the Bus Station due to ongoing works will now pick up from Bishop Auckland Market Place, DL14 7NJ

You may choose to board a Kynren shuttle bus from the Bishop Auckland Market Place, DL14 7NJ, for an additional fee for the 2-way ride.

You will be dropped off on our site at the Bus drop off/pick up point which is directly in front of the Welcome Plaza.

PARK & WALK - from Car Park C only

Park in our Car Park C (postcode DL14 7SB), and walk.

The 11Arches site pedestrian entrance is 500m (.3 mile) from our Car Park C (postcode DL14 7SB) on a sloped countryside path with uneven surface (160m or .1 mile) followed by a flat wide path (320m or .2 mile); then you will walk on a zig zag path with a gently sloping gradient on 450m (.28 mile) to reach our Welcome Plaza, but bear in mind the return walk back is up hill!

PARK & RIDE - from Car parks C or H

Park in our Car Park C (postcode DL14 7SB), or our Car Park H (postcode DL14 6JZ), and board a Kynren shuttle bus directly from these car parks for an additional fee for the 2-way ride.

You will be dropped off on our site at the Bus drop off/pick up point which is directly in front of the Welcome Plaza.

ONSITE PARKING FOR BLUE BADGE HOLDERS ONLY

If you are a blue badge holder, you can book Blue Badge Car Park A (postcode DL14 7SF)located on our site. There is limited availability . To access this car park on the day of your chosen performance, all visitors will be asked by the parking attendants to produce and display their pre-booked parking voucher and a valid Blue Badge permit.

PLEASE NOTE: Once on site, there is for all our visitors a 450-meter walk on a mostly flat path from the Welcome Plaza to the Tribune (seating and performance area).

Please note that we have two different options within Car Park A:

Car park A1 is for Blue Badge Holders. If this car park is full on the date of your choice, please do NOT book Car Park A2 as it is exclusively for our visitors with tickets in the wheelchair section. Instead, please book a parking space in car parks C or H and add a shuttle ride to your booking.

Car Park A2 is ONLY for Blue Badge Holders who have booked Kynren tickets in the wheelchair section.

MOTORHOME PARK & RIDE FROM CAR PARK H2

Motorhomes can only be booked in our Car Park H (postcode DL14 6JZ), where the space sizes and a tarmac surface are fit for purpose. You can then board a Kynren shuttle bus directly from these car parks for an additional fee for the 2-way ride. Please Note that we do not offer overnight facility for motorhomes.

You will be dropped off on our site at the Bus drop off/pick up point which is directly in front of the Welcome Plaza.

CAR PARKS INFORMATION

Check the information on each car park on the map below to make sure you select the best solution for you!

COMPULSORY ADVANCE BOOKING YOUR CAR PARKING VOUCHER AND SHUTTLE BUS TICKETS

If you choose to use our dedicated car parks and/or our shuttle bus services, you’ll need to book them in advance, subject to availability.

Car parking voucher and shuttle tickets must be purchased ahead of your visit as:

  • Car park tickets cannot be purchased on the day from the car parks when you arrive.
  • Shuttle tickets cannot be booked on the day from the car parks when you arrive, and visitors without shuttle bus tickets will need to walk to the site.
  • A one way shuttle ticket back to your car park can be purchased from the retail outlets when you arrive onsite. Tickets are £5 per person and are subject to availability on the day. Tickets are so much cheaper when booked in advance with your show tickets and pre-booked ticket-holders have priority over those who bought one the day. It is well worth booking in advance if you think you might need this service at the end of the night.

You will also be surprised at how quickly we send off 8,000 visitors each night after the show. We aim to say goodnight to the last bus in less than 50 minutes after the show ends, and to the last car just 1 hour and 10 minutes after the show ends.

FEES FOR THE PARKING AND SHUTTLE SERVICES

Season 2024
Parking Voucher
£7 per car
£10 per motorhome
Shuttle Service
£3 per person for a 2-way service (to get to Kynren and to leave our site after the show)

Bishop Auckland College has yet again kindly made its parking facilities available to our visitors for our 2024 season. No income is passed on to Bishop Auckland College, and all car parking charges paid by our visitors are solely to cover the complex traffic management system across the season. Bishop Auckland College has offered the use of their car park spaces free of charge in order to support us in our goal to make Kynren a sustainable show which can continue for generations to come. We are grateful for Bishop Auckland College’s ongoing support to 11Arches.
