Published : 12 Aug, 2024

Kynren - An Epic Tale of England welcomed a special guest to its second show of the summer season.
Chelsea Pensioner Peter Henry visited Kynren to watch its its 1,000-strong volunteer cast and crew bring to life 'the story of us' in a mesmerising journey through 2,000 years of English history.
Peter joined the Army when he was 16 years old and served with the Royal Artillery before transferring to the Corps of Royal Military Police where he served 22 years in Regular service and eight years in Reserve.
Peter said: “What an excellent, informative, interesting and action-packed show. Whilst I have attended a number of shows, there is always something different. The horsemanship of the riders, the shepherd's control of the sheep and the control of the geese was wonderful to watch.
“The only word I can think of to describe the show is fantastic!”
Kynren begins with a boy called Arthur accidentally kicking a football through a window of a hunting lodge at Auckland Castle. Audiences are then taken on a fascinating voyage through history as seen through the eyes of Arthur, shining the spotlight on the Romans, Vikings, Norman Conquest, the bloody outcome of England’s Civil War, King Charles’ final journey to the executioner’s block, the Age of Steam, the Queen’s Coronation and more.
Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren said: “It was wonderful to welcome Peter to Kynren this weekend. Our cast and crew are enjoying every moment when they perform the show and to know that Peter was in the audience was a lovely moment for us all.”
Kynren is a spellbinding, family-friendly experience delivering thrills, shocks, tears, laughs, goosebumps and gasps on a truly cinematic scale. The 8,000-seater tribune provides panoramic views across the seven-and-a-half-acre outdoor stage.
Audiences can expect magnificent sets, mass choreography, combat, stunts, stunning pyrotechnics and amazing special effects, including water jets and state of the art video projections.
The 90-minute performances start at sunset and end in starlight, taking place every Saturday evening until the 14th September.
Tickets cost from £26 for adults and from £16 for under 18s. Children aged 3 and under are free when sat on an adult’s knee.
