Kynren – An Epic Tale of England recently welcomed local MP Sam Rushworth to experience the magic and majesty of the award-winning Bishop Auckland attraction.
Whilst visiting the theatrical production, which is set on a seven-and-a-half-acre outdoor stage and stars a 1,000-strong cast and crew, MP Sam Rushworth met volunteers and joined the rest of the audience to watch the 90-minute spectacular.
Mr Rushworth mentioned Kynren in his maiden speech in Parliament after Labour’s triumph in July of this year. He praised volunteers involved in arts and culture across Bishop Auckland and described Kynren as “England’s most spectacular outdoor theatre production.”
Anna Warnecke, CEO of Kynren, believes recognition from local members of parliament is invaluable to the team. She said: “MP Sam Rushworth has been incredibly supportive of Kynren and the impact organisations like ours have on local communities, and the cultural opportunities they can bring to rural areas.
“In his maiden speech in parliament, Mr Rushworth stated how the arts and culture scene here is ‘not only developing talent but building the character and confidence of the rising generation’ - and we can only agree as we see young volunteers join Kynren and blossom into thriving cast members,” Anna added.
Kynren’s summer 2024 season will end on Saturday 14th September and has welcomed thousands of visitors to watch legends come to life in the County Durham based show.
From Boudicca’s battles with the Romans to two world wars, as well as Vikings, Tudors, Stuarts, Queen Victoria and the Industrial Revolution, Kynren is a whistlestop tour of 2,000 years of history, myth and legend. It is a spellbinding, family-friendly experience delivering thrills, shocks, tears, laughs, goosebumps and gasps on a truly cinematic scale.
