Watch Legends Come To Life For Silver Travellers

Silver travellers and history enthusiasts can experience the UK’s biggest outdoor live theatre event, where legends come to life in a thrilling tale told on an epic scale.

Taking place every Saturday until 14th September* at Bishop Auckland, County Durham, Kynren – an Epic Tale of England transports its audiences back through time on an unforgettable journey spanning 2,000 years.

Visitors with blue badges can park as close as possible to the show site for those in need. Perfect for mature travellers and silver surfers, the multi-award-winning show is ranked among the Top 5 Performances to see in the UK on TripAdvisor.

Kynren strives to ensure the site is accessible to all visitors. The main visitor path is DDA compliant and there are reserved places available for wheelchair users to enjoy the show.

The site also has a limited number of park benches, however the 8,000-seater Tribune opens two hours before the start of each performance should you wish to take your seats early.    

Performed by a 1,000-strong cast and crew on a 7.5-acre outdoor stage, all visitors are immersed in the rich history of the North of England from the fog of war and the noise of battle right through to the heat of the industrial revolution, from the Romans to the Victorians, Kynren has it all.

This epic tale of England is packed with pomp and pageantry, thrilling choreography, amazing stunts, incredible equestrianism, world-class special effects and pyrotechnics.

Amazing new features this year include a Viking longship burial on the water, with live Vikings on board, a dramatic coastal raid and lots of fiery effects and explosions.

Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to make the most of the pre-show experiences. Kynren opens at least three and a half hours before the start of the show throughout the summer, and three hours before the show in September.

New for 2019 is walkthrough Viking Village. Designed to offer visitors a fully immersive insight into life in Viking England watch sparks fly in the Blacksmith’s Forge, see Shield Maidens at work around the fire and watch the Vikings challenge each other as they practise for their raids.

Get up close to Kynren’s animal cast with giant Percherons, a gaggle of geese and some of the flock of sheep and discover the hill house that Vikings families would have lived in thousands of years ago.

Other pre-show attractions include the Food Village featuring local, high quality suppliers and a new 1940’s Bar with a street party vibe.

Kynren provides a pre-booked Park and Ride Shuttle Bus Service to and from the site and there is designated parking for Blue Badge Holders, subject to availability.
